Sundance Testimonials

“A big thank you again for all your help. Chris and I really enjoyed our first visit to the ranch (first of many I hope)! I can certainly see why our friends call Sundance home away from home - you guys are absolutely incredible!!”
Sent by Christine from Pender Island, April 2009 (Gourmet/Wine Weekend):
"Thank you for putting together a really nice weekend – Marty and I will remember it often as one of our ‘favourite’ times at the ranch! The nice weather helped, of course the great horses, but the wine tasting and the new food and the atmosphere in general were deluxe and I thought you’d like to know."

“I would like to tell you what a great time we had at the Ranch this past weekend. Not only was it fun, everything - people, food, accommodation, horses, wranglers, etc. WERE ALL #1 .... I would recommend the ranch to anyone and hopefully will be back next April! It was a pleasure to stay at Sundance Guest Ranch.”

“I just wanted to send a quick note on how much I enjoyed my weekend. The people that work on the ranch were great, the food fabulous and the experience was amazing. I will definitely return for another Cowgirl Weekend.”

"Thanks so much for the weekend. My friends and I loved it. I am so happy you provide a setting for girls only with no kids. It's just what we need. After a life of planning meals, scheduling children and husbands too, after laundry, tidying, putting stuff away, ad nauseum, I loved not having to think about what I was going to make to eat. I appreciated that we could just eat, or drink or ride and then simply say thanks, and walk away. I thought there was excellent value for the money. It is fun that you encourage the staff to mingle with the guests. It really adds to the life experience to learn about the people who live it. We are all looking forward to our next visit."

“My husband and I were up this weekend and I just wanted to send you a quick note to say THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! I have been dreaming about a vacation like this for years and Sundance completely fulfilled all my expectations and then some. I want to say a particularly big thanks to the Wranglers who made the trip so enjoyable. They made me really feel comfortable and I loved that they hung out with us after, teaching us to rope and even doing a two-step or two. I particularly enjoyed my Saturday rides – the horse I rode has real spirit! The food was great, all the staff welcoming, and it seemed that everyone made a big effort to remember who we were. Sundance is definitely a unique place and I am so thankful to have found it. Thank you again to everyone that puts time, energy, and spirit into such a great ranch. “

“Sundance was heaven for me. It far surpassed my expectations. I love the gang and the horses. Thank you Sundance and I do hope to return one day again :)”

"My husband and I just returned home after a great weekend at your little piece of heaven. We were with a corporate group and had an amazing time! My husband has had some riding experience while I was essentially a beginner. However, at the end of the three days I felt pretty confident in that saddle and even managed to get my horse into a proper run, which is definitely an adrenaline rush. Thanks so much to all of your wonderful staff - from the greeting we received in the office to the service and delicious food in the dining room and of course the time spent with the wranglers, everything was top notch and I hope that we can return but next time we will be bringing our 14 year old daughter with us! We hope you have a great season and look forward to our next trip to Sundance Ranch."

"We had the most fantastic stay with you and are now home and boring friends with stories of spectacular views, wonderful horses, amazing rides, fantastic hospitality and friendliness from everyone at the ranch - so thank you so much!!! We hope to be back next year, so I'll be in touch to organise dates at some point later in the year. Wishing you all the very best and wishing we were still at Sundance!"

"We had such a great time this weekend! Thank you for being such excellent hosts. All the girls felt that everyone at SR went above and beyond, and it was way beyond their expectations. I knew it would be like that as I’ve been there before."

I would like to thank all the staff and the guests for the fabulous week myself, Sheri and Naomi had at your ranch. We are calling this past week the best vacation we have ever had. Never before have we had a staff like the people that run Sundance Guest Ranch. They all take the time to learn your name and they remember it. That fact is truly amazing. If I did not know better, I would say you pick your guests. Bad and sad people need not apply. We met people from England, Germany, the US, Ontario, lower mainland and Vancouver Island. There is not one of them that I do not miss because they were all great people. I put the word "complaints" in the subject in this email largely to my warped sense of humor. The complaints I have is that our vacation ended and during our time at Sundance I gained 5 pounds. Sheri's only complaint was the coffee cups were too small. I will remember our week at Sundance fondly. And mostly I will remember the fabulous people we met there. Stand up and applaud yourselves for a great time.

"Having returned home to England, I felt I must write to say a big thank you to everyone at Sundance for making us feel so at home and welcome. We only wished we had booked to stay longer. Joe, our son, was very resistant to the idea of visiting a Ranch but in fact he was the most difficult to drag away, and wants us to visit next year! We met some lovely people and have many memories to treasure."

"Well, I certainly wasn't expecting what I got! I had the best week of my life. Between the horseback riding, the swimming pool, the amazing food, and the drinking lounge I don't know where to start. Everyone at the ranch who worked and stayed there was so friendly and wonderful. I met a whole bunch of new friends. There was an open door policy. Whenever I needed something all I had to do was ask. The ranch was very well maintained. Everything was clean and cozy. The full wrap around deck of the entire building was a real treat. My room was more that I was expecting. It was clean, especially in the bathroom around the tub and sink, and kept cool from the air conditioning. Also, the Saturday Night party was so much fun. Even though I had gone to the ranch on my own, and it was my first time there, everyone made me feel like I had been there before. But, of course, best of all was the riding. There was such a variety of horses and landscape. There really were more than 100 horses. Then everything from wide open green pastures, rolling hills covered with sage, sand banks, pretty little streams and the tops of ridges and mountains with amazing views. From the first day to my last day I went from a little bit of experience to, what felt like, advanced. The wranglers were so helpful and friendly in every aspect. They taught me so much, and always had a good story to tell or something funny to say. I really loved horses before, but now I am passionate about how amazing horses can be. Everyone made me feel so welcome. I have special memories that I will always remember. It really was like going home. Yup...I really got the experience that I had been dreaming of. Thank you so much for the true ‘welcome home’ feeling that I got. Leaving really brought me to tears."

"To all the staff at Sundance - it was our first time to a ranch for horseback riding and the experience was fantastic. The question all three children asked as we drove away on Sunday was "When could we come back?" Thanks for the wonderful experience, and we will be back soon."

"Greeting from Wales. I hope you have had a fantastic summer. We had a brilliant weekend with you at the end of June riding your horses as part of our tour of BC and Alberta. We often think about the great time we had with you and how sad we were to leave. Kindest regards and thanks for a brilliant few days in June."

"To everyone there at Sundance, I just wanted to let you know that, hands down, this past weekend I spent at Sundance was one of the most fabulous of my life. It was the first time I had taken a vacation on my own since I had my kids (which would be going on three years). My friend has raved about Sundance for years, and my husband visited there as a child with his family and has often shared with me his love for the ranch and how much he would like to return. Despite all the build up, it didn't even compare to the real deal. This past weekend exceeded all expectations. Our rooms were amazing . . . the property itself is like something out of a dream. The horse were beautiful, but even better was how much everyone there loves and dotes on them. The rides were both beautiful and super fun. We absolutely ADORED our wrangler for the weekend (even this is a gross understatement). He was so tolerant of us . . . high maintenance gals that we are . . . and was very helpful in guiding us (especially me) and the horses. I cannot remember the last time I was so relaxed . . . and while I'm sure the tequila helped, it was definitely the ranch and the people there that made it such a memorable experience. There is truly something magical about the ranch. The combination of atmosphere, staff, the horses . . . contribute to making it such a special place. I cannot wait to return next year. It truly is the kind of place that makes you feel like you're coming home. Thank you so much."

"Hello Cynthia and staff, Just a note to thank you for providing a wonderful guest ranch experience for us. Never having been to one before, we're thoroughly pleased. Our first impression put our minds at ease--the superb condition of the horses (seeing them as we drove in) is a wonderful thing to see. It made us comfortable right away that these animals are "members of the family". The wranglers are commendable. The Barn Boss obviously, knows his horses and really is the "ambassador" for the riding experience. One wrangler very graciously took me on a private ride, when it became apparent my back would not allow me to keep up with the others (also, my riding (in)ability). This, I later realized, was conveyed to the wranglers before that morning, so the ride would be properly staffed, just in case. It is also very thoughtful and thorough planning on your part. On the ride, I felt, at all times, well cared for, respected and safe. My wrangler asked me many times if I was enjoying the ride. I think he is an asset to your staff. It can't be easy for wranglers to have to intermingle with guests when their hearts are with ranching but your people do an excellent job at this. I can only imagine the patience that is required with children and people who insist on riding "fast" when they don't know how. Your office staff is also to be commended. From my first contact, all my questions were answered courteously and even cheerfully. They really make one feel extremely comfortable. Also, being "dog" people, we really loved the high elevation of respect and love the dogs on the ranch enjoy. Our room was a good size, and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the coffee pot. We thoroughly enjoyed the people we met as they were all friendly and courteous--horse people are special. Thanks again for a wonderful experience and you can be assured we would recommend your ranch to anyone."
